Those who step into the role of mother

Those without mothers

Love to all mothers, especially the greatest one of all: Mother Earth.

I am in every way a reflection of you

A replica of your love

You are my origin

Your womb is my native land

Your crass vernacular is my native tongue

I am indigenous to the parts of you that have been colonized by those who did not deserve to know the smooth of your skin nor the texture of your touch

You have given me life beyond measure, for what you have passed down to me cannot be quantified by this system and its need to compare, it’s quest for more 

I am the recipient of an invisible inheritance 

There will be no martyrdom, only celebration 

There will be no sacrifice, only unconditional giving of self according to my own free will

There will be no taking, only offering 

It is because of you that I know the difference

Because I watched you dance in the shadows 

Sometimes lacking grace at times but never stopping, never standing still, never slowing down

And so, I dance in the light.
