Ziran NYFW F18 Presentation

Ziran NYFW F18 Presentation

On February 6th, we had our first New York Fashion Week presentation. It started with an intimate dinner at Mission Chinese restaurant in Chinatown, where we hosted different Ziran Muses to Chongqing (spicy!) style Chinese food and drinks.

After opening custom fortune cookies, (our favorite one is LIVE FAST BUY SLOW), we hopped next door to Sargents Daughters gallery. The party kicked off with a DJ set by The Misshapes. Cocktails included Green Tea Spritzs and Szechuan Pepper Margaritas. Topped with CBD powder, optional of course :)

At the sound of a gong, we presented our F18 collection titled "NO SEASONS" that explores the effects of climate change on the 5 elements. The models were dynamic, diverse, and looked as if they had been pummeled by Mother Nature. Exactly what we wanted.

Downstairs we screened our short film THE ZIRAN WAY, which exposes the life of the silk we use, called xiang yun sha. The film traces its’ beginning on the silk farm to a finished piece in Los Angeles. The Ziran team, led by Creative Director Kelly Wang Shanahan and Director Ryan Hackbarth, visit the Chinese town where the silk is made, learn from its’ people, and capture the essence of this extraordinary textile. The film then moves to Los Angeles, where it uncovers the Ziran clothing brand and its’ ambitious efforts to weave tradition into the modern world. The collection features new prints in 100% sustainable silk quilted robes, reimagined kimonos, waffle knit chino track pants, and a luxurious take on the classic coaches jacket.
